In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Dragutinovic said that Serbia needs a good credit rating in order to obtain loans from international financial institutions, primarily the World Bank and the European Investment Bank.
She said that it is extremely important for Serbia that economic policy assessments by the IMF are respected, considering the fact that the EU also relies on these assessments.
She said that talks began with the IMF yesterday in Belgrade and that income and expenditure plans for 2009 were discussed.
The IMF mission, led by Albert Jagger, yesterday began talks with representatives of the Serbian government and the National Bank of Serbia, in order to examine the macroeconomic situation in Serbia and to plan economic policy for the next year.
The IMF delegation will be in Belgrade until November 9 and during this time will talk about the modalities for a new arrangement.
