The statement adds that five companies from the timber industry sector will be presented at the Serbian national stand and adds that the M.O.W. exposition is the gathering place of international trend setters in timber industry for the upcoming year.
Companies Lagado and Ekstraform will present their high-quality leather and other materials for furniture, Dalas and Eurosalon will exhibit wood furniture for offices, kitchens and hotels, and furniture manufacturer Kolarevic will present its products which are mostly made of oak and cherry tree.
Global demand for top quality wood is on the rise and Serbia is rich with forests and makes 70% of its furniture from wood.
The plan is to issue certificates for the majority of Serbia’s forests by end-year with the sustainable development standard according to the Forest Stewardship Council programme. This will be both a recognition and confirmation that forests are used in line with strict international regulations.
Director of Dalas Milutin Jovanovic said that Serbia has continued developing its rich tradition in timber industry and that today it is recognised as a leader in design and product quality in central and Eastern Europe.
He noted that in comparison with EU markets, production costs are quite below the average, while the quality of workforce is at the top level, which is confirmed by the fact that furniture export jumped by around 75% in 2005 and 2006.
The statement adds that SIEPA has organised the participation of Serbian companies at the exposition.
