In the period January–July 2008, compared with the same period in 2007, industrial production went up by 4.2%.
Examined by sectors, in July 2008 compared to the same month in 2007, there was a growth of 5.6% in the processing sector, energy production and distribution of electric energy, gas and water of 5.2% and mining and quarrying of 3.2%.
There was also a growth in the production of capital goods by 12.1%, non-durable consumer goods by 8.2% and intermediary products, energy excluded, by 5.5%, whereas a fall of 14.8% was recorded in the production of durable consumer goods.
The industrial production volume in July 2008, compared to July 2007, showed that there was growth in 17 divisions, which participate in the structure of industrial production with 82%, while production fell in 12 divisions, which participate in the structure of industrial production with 18%.
Industrial production growth in July 2008, compared to July 2007, was mainly influenced by the following sectors: manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, electric energy, other traffic goods and products made of metal, machines excluded, and basic metals.
The seasonal adjustment of the industrial production index for July 2008, compared to the 2007 average, indicates a 5.2% growth in overall industrial production and a 4.6% growth in manufacturing.
The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for July 2008, compared to June 2008, indicates the same growth in overall industrial production and a 0.9% in manufacturing.
The production of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that were not included in regular statistical surveys is monitored based on a sample of 325 selected units. In July, 112 enterprises submitted the requested data.
Including the assessment of the industrial production of SMEs, in July 2008 compared to the 2007 average, overall industrial production increased by 3.6% (otherwise it went up by 3.5%) and manufacturing by 5.2% (otherwise the growth also stands at 5%).
