The Ministry says in a statement that Brakus and Markovic told the State Secretary their proposals for the improvement of working conditions of schools in Switzerland and asked that three private Serbian schools in Lucerne, Zug and Geneva be granted equal status with the school in Bern, which is financed by the Serbian Ministry of Education.
They also presented the concept for the Congress of Serbian Teachers from the Diaspora which will be held in Switzerland next spring.
Brakus and Markovic thanked the Ministry for Diaspora on its support to projects which encourage Serbian children abroad to attend Serbian schools.
According to them, the recent seminar for Serbian teachers from the Diaspora held in Bajina Basta was well organised and very successful.
Jaksic stressed that one of the Ministry’s priorities is improvement of working conditions at Serbian schools in Diaspora and increase in the number of students attending those schools.
As soon as next week we will hold meetings at the Ministry of Education, which is in charge of these schools, and inform them of our proposals for the improvement of these important institutions in the Diaspora. We will also acquaint them with demands by our Diaspora, students, teachers and parents who expect assistance from their native country, said Jaksic.
