The agreement was signed by Indjija municipal president Goran Jesic and member of the Embassy Group managing board Ramgopal Narayanan.
Matic said at the occasion that nearly €60 million will be invested in the IT Park. It will employ more than 2,500 people and cover an area of 25,000 square metres. She pointed to the fact that this project is of extraordinary significance for the Serbian economy and the first of its kind in the region.
In the near future we will have to concentrate on acquiring more information technology experts through the education system, Matic said and added that currently not a single information technology expert is available at the job exchange in Serbia.
Matic said that it is hoped that the IT Park will motivate young Serbian experts who have left their homeland to return and find extremely good and very well paid jobs in Indjija.
Jesic said that the IT Park in Indjija will be one of the largest of its kind in Europe, and added that investments worth a minimum of $600 million and employment for 25,000 highly educated people are expected within a period of five years.
He said that works will begin in autumn, and the facility will be ready for use by the middle of next year.
According to Jesic, the municipality of Indjija has provided 50 hectares of land free of cost for the construction of the IT Park, and the Serbian government has pledged to provide necessary infrastructure.
Narayanan said that he is convinced that the Embassy Group will succeed in attracting leading international IT companies to invest in Serbia, and that one day exports from the IT Park in Indjija will be equal to total Serbian exports.
He said that the centre of this company, the Indian city of Bangalore, annually exports nearly $14 billion worth of hardware and software, and India annually exports information technology products worth $70 billion.
