Examined by sectors, in May 2008 compared to the same month in 2007, there was a growth of 5.3% in the processing sector, 1.8% in the quarrying and mining sector, whereas a fall of 3% was recorded in the production and distribution of electricity, gas and water sector.
According to data on industrial production in May 2008, compared to May 2007, production of durable consumer goods went up by 27.6%, capital goods by 15.6%, intermediate goods energy excluded, by 8.6% and non-durable consumer goods by 0.2%, while energy fell by 4.1%.
The industrial production volume in May 2008, compared to May 2007, showed that there was growth in 15 divisions which participate in the structure of industrial production with 40%, while production fell in 14 divisions which participate in the structure of industrial production with 60%.
Industrial production growth in May 2008, compared to May 2007, was mainly influenced by the following sectors: manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, manufacture of furniture, publishing, printing and reproduction of records, manufacture of other transport utilities and electrical machines and appliances.
The seasonal adjustment of the industrial production index for May 2008, compared to the 2007 average, indicates a 4.8% growth in overall industrial production and a 5.9% growth in manufacturing.
The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for May 2008, compared to April 2008, indicates a 2.1% growth in overall industrial production and a 2.6% in manufacturing.
The production of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that were not included in regular statistical surveys is monitored based on a sample of 325 selected units. In May, 111 enterprises submitted the requested data.
Including the assessment of the industrial production of SMEs, in May 2008 compared to the 2007 average, overall industrial production increased by 4.2% (otherwise it went up by 3.9%) and manufacturing by 9.3% (otherwise by 9.0%).
