According to a statement by the Ministry of Education, Rector of the St Petersburg University, President of the Russian Organisation of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature and Vice-Chairperson of the Advisory Commission on Science, Technology and Education to the Russian President Ludmila Alekseyevna Verbitskaya also took part in the meeting.
Loncar stressed that Russia’s principled support to the struggle to safeguard Kosovo as a province within Serbia’s borders is of historical importance for Serbia. He expressed conviction that Russia will continue to provide support, which will help further the relations between the two countries in all areas.
Today’s meeting also looked at cooperation in education between Serbia and Russia, and Loncar and Ambassador Konuzin agreed that education should have a special importance in the relations between their two countries.
Ludmila Alekseyevna Verbitskaya acquainted Loncar with the possibilities to further cooperation between the two countries in all areas of education, as well as the possible ways to improve Russian language teaching in Serbia.
Both sides showed readiness to further cooperation in the education sector and agreed to detail the first specific steps next week, adds the statement.
