The reconstruction of the complex is the result of joint activities by Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia, and the Serbian funds were provided by the Vojvodina Executive Council and the Serbian Ministry of Culture.
The Serbian delegation will be led by Minister of Culture Vojislav Brajovic, who will address the survivors, members of their families and officials.
Other members of the delegation will include Assistant Minister of Labour and Social Policy Miro Cavaljuga and Chairman of the Vojvodina Executive Council Bojan Pajtic.
During World Wars I and II, Sarvar was a concentration camp where a great number of people from Serbia were imprisoned and killed.
From June 1941 to 1945, Nazi authorities brought around 15,000 people from occupied Yugoslavia, including old people, women and children to the camp. Over 750 of them died due to inhuman conditions in the concentration camp.
