State Secretary of Defence Dusan Spasojevic continued his visit to the Czech Republic today, during which Czech officials assured him of their support to Serbia’s EU integration and improvement of their future bilateral military cooperation.
The Ministry of Defence states that at yesterday’s meeting with Czech First Deputy Minister of Defence Martin Barták, Spasojevic thanked him for the strong support which the Czech Republic, as a NATO and EU member, offered Serbia in its further reforms of the army and on its EU integration road.
Spasojevic said that the unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo-Metohija is an illegal act and represents precedent international relations.
Barták stressed that the Czech Republic has not recognised the unilateral independence of Kosovo and said that Czech troops will still be engaged in the province under the UN mandate.
They agreed that bilateral military cooperation between Serbia and the Czech Republic has been successful and that there is room for its further improvement.
Spasojevic also talked with Deputy Chief of General Staff General Major Josef Prokos, who said he was pleased with the military cooperation between the two states.
The State Secretary will wrap up his visit to the Czech Republic today after meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomas Poyar and President of the Czech parliament’s Defence and Safety Committee Jan Vidim.
