By sectors, in March 2008, compared to the same month in 2007, there was a growth of 8.7% in the electricity, gas and water production and distribution sector, 7.5% in the quarrying and mining sector and 0.8% in the manufacturing sector.
According to data on industrial production in March 2008, compared to March 2007, energy production grew by 9.9%, intermediate goods, energy excluded, by 4.1% and production of capital goods by 1.4%, while the production of durable and non-durable consumer goods fell by 27.3% and 0.4% respectively.
The industrial production volume in March 2008, compared to March 2007, showed that there was growth in 15 divisions which participate in the structure of industrial production with 59%, and a fall in 14 divisions which participate in the structure of industrial production with 41%.
Industrial production growth in March 2008, compared to March 2007, was mainly influenced by the following sectors: generation of electricity, manufacture of oil derivatives, basic metals and electrical machinery and appliances.
The seasonal adjustment of the industrial production index for March 2008, compared to the 2007 average, indicates a 2.9% growth in overall industrial production and a 3.4% growth in manufacturing.
The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for March 2008, compared to February 2008, indicates a 0.7% fall in overall industrial production and a 0.8% fall in manufacturing.
The production of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that were not included in regular statistical surveys is monitored based on a sample of 325 selected units. In March, 111 enterprises submitted the requested data.
Including the assessment of the industrial production of SMEs, in March 2008 compared to the 2007 average, overall industrial production increased by 4.2% (otherwise it went up by 3.4%) and manufacturing increased by 3.5% (otherwise it went up by 2.6%).
