The public invitation was announced today. The candidates will be interviewed on April 21 in the Ministry of Health, the training will be held from May 5 to 7, and the candidates chosen will start to work as of May 5.
The basis for employing Roma health mediators was set by a working group consisting of representatives of the Secretariat for the Roma national minority, the OESC, the League for Roma Decade, the Roma National Council, the Ministry of Health, and a member of the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister’s team for implementation of the Poverty Reduction Strategy.
The Roma health mediators are Roma women-mothers with at least elementary school degree. The education in 2008 and 2009 will be financed by the OSCE.
Roma health mediators will be employed in the community health centres in 15 municipalities, and these are Leskovac, Bujanovac, Pozarevac, Surdulica, Smederevo, Krusevac, Aleksinac, Pancevo, Bojnik, Lebane, Kragujevac, Vladicin Han, Stara Pazova, Beograd-Zemun and Palilula.
