The statement adds that retail prices jumped by 1.2% and services by 0.3%, whereas the 2007 average annual growth of retail prices was 6.8% compared to the 2006 average.
Living costs in January increased by 0.8% on average compared to December 2007, whereas the increase stands at 7% compared to the whole of 2006.
By groups, compared with the previous month, the prices of agricultural products went up by 4.4%. The increase was due to the hike in the prices of fruit and vegetables, whereas the prices of eggs and fish decreased.
The prices of food products are up 0.8% on average, and the greatest increase was recorded in the prices of flour, bread, milk and dairy and frozen fruits.
The prices of beverages went up by 0.5% on average, while tobacco prices remained the same.
Industrial non-food products went up by over 1.2% on average. In this group, the prices of oil derivatives increased, whereas other products did not change significantly.
The prices of services increased by 0.3% on average.
