The statement adds that industrial production in 2007 saw an increase of 3.7% in comparison with 2006.
By sectors, electric power, gas and water production and distribution sector in December 2007 saw a growth of 4.5%, whereas the mining and quarrying sector fell by 4.9% and the processing industry by 1.1% compared to the same month in 2006.
The production of the following goods in December 2007 when compared to December 2006 recorded a growth of 7.6% in the capital goods production, 2.6% in energy production and of 2.3% in non-durable consumer goods, whereas durable consumer goods production fell by 18% and intermediate products, energy excluded, by 5.1%.
The volume of industrial production in December 2007 against the same month in 2006 recorded a fall in 19 areas which make up 37% of industrial production, whereas growth was recorded in 10 areas which make 63% of industrial production.
The production of basic metals, furniture, non-metallic minerals and tobacco had the largest negative influence on industrial production in December 2007 compared to December 2006.
The volume of industrial production in 2007, compared with 2006, saw a growth in 17 areas which make up 73% of industrial production, and a fall in 12 areas which make up 27% of industrial production.
The production of food products, electric energy, machines and appliances, except electric ones, as well as the production of chemicals and chemical products had the largest positive influence on industrial production in 2007 compared to 2006.
The seasonal adjustment of the industrial production index for December 2007, compared to the 2006 average, indicates a 3.2% growth in overall industrial production and a growth of 3% in the processing industry.
The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for December 2007 compared to November 2007 also indicates a growth, this time of 3.3% in overall industrial production and of 2.5% in the processing industry.
The production of small-sized enterprises (employing fewer than 50 workers) that were not included in regular statistical surveys is monitored on a sample of 335 selected units from the processing sector.
In December 2007, 111 enterprises submitted the requested data. When the assessment of the industrial production of small-sized enterprises of the sample is included, the overall industrial production in December 2007 increased by 15.1% against the 2006 average (otherwise this growth stands at 14.1%) and the processing industry by 12.6% (otherwise the growth stands at 11.3%).
The data on industrial production in 2008 will be announced on the last working day of every month and will refer to the previous month, adds the statement.
