The theme of Expo 2010 will be "Better City - Better Life" and it is estimated that it will gather over 180 countries and cities exhibitors, and between 70 and 100 million visitors. The SIEPA booked for Serbia the exhibition space of 1,000 square metres which is estimated to be seen by between 5 million and 10 million people. All these numbers make the exhibition in Shanghai the biggest Expo ever held.
On the basis of given technical documentation and strategy of Serbia's presentation at Expo 2010, the selected designer will be expected to give solutions for Serbia's presentation, the exterior and interior design of the pavilion and explanation of the message of Serbia's presentation.
During the six months of the fair there will be various activities such as presentation of Serbia's tourist offer (mountains, festivals, city entertainment opportunities), presentation of the country's economic potentials and investment opportunities, as well as presentation of Serbian products and gastronomy offer in a unique ambience.
Also, a board of Serbian businessmen will be set up who will present in the best way the potentials of the Serbian economy as part of the event "Days of Serbian economy". That will be an exceptional opportunity to brand Serbia as a new investment and tourist location, and a country with great economic potential in the production of healthy food, IT development and environmental protection.
It also should not be forgotten that the host country, China, is the world superpower in economic and every other sense. The Chinese economy is the fastest growing in the world, and Shanghai is its centre. The economic growth recorded in China in Shanghai in the past twenty years is unprecedented, with the tendency of further growth. For Serbia it is also very important that by 2010, the Chinese will account for one-third of all tourists in the world.
Serbian Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic, who is Serbian Commissioner General for Expo 2010, and organisers of the exhibition from SIEPA will discuss the possibility to turn the Serbian pavilion into a consulate-general after the Expo or to use it for commercial purposes (as an office of commerce, artistic pavilion, Serbian tourist office). In that way, the pavilion would continue to gather profits after the Expo 2010.
