At the second day of the gathering themed “Traffic, Infrastructure, Logistics – What are Serbia’s Perspectives”, taking place in the Continental Belgrade hotel, Djilas said that the National Investment Plan is Serbia’s development plan for the next three years.
He said that Serbia’s 2007 GDP might exceed 7%, which should help open new jobs and develop the entire country. Djilas explained that this is why €550 million was set aside from the budget for the National Investment Plan.
A total of €137.5 million was set aside for infrastructure projects this year, specified Djilas and stressed that the goal is to have a similar budget for the National Investment Plan in 2008, but to redirect a larger portion of it to these projects.
According to Djilas, between 70% and 80% of the National Investment Plan’s budget will be invested in infrastructure projects, 20% in the improvement of citizens’ living standard, whereas €30 million will be allocated to local infrastructure.
For 2008 there are guarantees for €80 million for projects which began this year and will continue in the course of 2008, such as the ring road around Belgrade and Corridor 10, explained Djilas.
The Minister announced investments in gasification in Serbia, development of the Internet and telecommunications and added that motorways Nis-Dimitrovgrad and Leskovac–Presevo will also be built, as well as bridges on the rivers Tisa and Sava near Raca towards Bosnia-Herzegovina, and near Obrenovac, while the Pancevo Bridge will be reconstructed.
Djilas announced that this year, MIG-29 planes were renovated through the National Investment Plan, whereas next year there should be investments into the airport in Batajnica so that Belgrade could have another airport for civilian transport.
Djilas also said that investments into the renovation of helicopters and planes for extinguishing fires have been envisaged and noted that the damage from forest fires in Serbia this year amounted to €40 million.
In the next three years, Serbia could invest €3 billion from different sources into Corridor 10, which would mean the completion of works on this corridor and on the ring road around Belgrade and the beginning of works on the second portion of the ring road around Belgrade and the motorway Nis-Dimitrovgrad, concluded Djilas.
The gathering themed “Traffic, Infrastructure, Logistics – What are Serbia’s Perspectives” was organised by the Italian embassy in Belgrade in cooperation with the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade and the Serbian Ministry of Infrastructure.
