Serbia dedicated to building, advancing relations with European partners

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić said today, during a meeting with Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman, that Serbia remains firmly committed to reforms and the European path.

Đurić stressed that it is important for the European Union’s enlargement policy to remain among the priorities for EU institutions and member states.

Recalling that, at the beginning of the year, a new negotiating structure was established and the Operational Team for Serbia’s Accession to the EU was formed, the Minister noted that this step confirms Serbia’s firm commitment to accelerating reforms and achieving further progress towards membership in the Union.

Regarding the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija, he stated that Belgrade remains committed to continuing the dialogue when the conditions are in place.

The head of Serbian diplomacy stressed that regional cooperation remains one of Serbia’s key foreign policy priorities, emphasising its commitment to further improving bilateral relations in the region.

According to him, Serbia is also dedicated to building and advancing bilateral relations with its European partners, based on mutual respect, dialogue and common interests, which represents an important segment of its European path and the European integration process.
