Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Velimir Ilic said today that the EU will support the construction of a highway to the Adriatic, reconstruction of the railway Belgrade-Bar, Corridor 10 and for development of waterways of the Danube.
Speaking at the conference "Transport, infrastructure and logistics - Serbia's outlooks", organised by the Italian Embassy to Belgrade, he announced that a tender will be called for part of the road on Corridor 10 from Leskovac to the Macedonian border.
He noted that it is necessary to speed up administrative procedures to get funds from the National Investment Plan allocated for infrastructure more easily.
He said that an agreement on the first phase for part of the ring-road around Belgrade near Dobanovci will be signed tomorrow whereas the other part of the agreement for connecting Ostruznica and Ibar main road will be signed on November 15.
The Minister said that Europe and partners from Italy are interested in the road from Belgrade to the South Adriatic part of the Corridor 10 and added that the Italian government is discussing prospects of the reconstruction project with CIP traffic institute.
Ilic expressed belief that parliament will adopt a set of laws revitalising railways in the amount of €140 million.
Deputy Italian Infrastructure Minister Angelo Capodicasa confirmed that Italy is ready to support infrastructure projects in Serbia especially because Italian businesspeople opened a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises in Serbia lately.
He noted that reconstruction of the road network in Serbia would bring substantial savings in transportation costs and improve the transit of goods and better connect Serbia and Italy.
