Products and services increase in price 1.6% month-on-month

The Serbian Statistics Office stated that prices of products and services increased in September by 1.6% against the month before.
In the first nine months of the year, prices increased by 7.6% while on the annual level (September 2007 against the same month of 2006) there was a growth of 8%.
By groups, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a growth of 4.6% whereas the prices of education rose 1.8% and restaurant and hotel services 1.1%.
At the same time, prices of communication decreased by 1.9%.
CPI COICOP presents a special retail prices index that is being calculated according to the methodology that is harmonised with recommendations for retail prices index calculation in the EU (Harmonized Price Index).
CPI COICOP is defined as a measure of average change of retail prices of goods and services used for personal consumption.
By groups, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a growth of 4.6% whereas the prices of education rose 1.8% and restaurant and hotel services 1.1%.
