Goran Petkovic
In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Petkovic said that the Privatisation Agency will prepare the privatisation model which will be implemented when it is announced which hotels and accommodation are suitable.
He noted that it is good that the public has begun discussing spa privatisation, because thus prospective buyers will be notified and acquainted with the offer.
According to Petkovic, foreign investors are interested both in the revitalisation of existing spa centres and greenfield investments.
Foreign investors are also interested in investing in the privatisation of tourist and hotel capacities in spas, but the success of the project will depend on how much access they will have to thermal sources, medicinal mud and other factors which they can use to better their tourist offer, explained Petkovic.
He also said that the Ministry of Health has hinted that the number of available beds in spas is too high and should be reduced. He also added that everything related with medical capacities, such as medical services in spas, will remain under the health ministry’s control and competencies.
