At the observation of the first anniversary of the Serbian army’s special brigade in Pancevo, Minister Sutanovac said that the Ministry of Defence will shortly conclude the drafting process, after which the documentation will undergo the legislative procedure prior to adoption.
He explained that these documents include strategies for defence and national security and recalled that several days ago, the ministry forwarded draft laws on the army and defence to the government and resource ministries.
Minister Sutanovac voiced belief that the laws on defence and the Serbian army will be adopted in October, which will help improve the living standard of army employees. He also recalled that the ministry drafted these two laws in a very short time.
Sutanovac said that the formation of the special brigade attracted the attention of a great deal of domestic and international public and added that tin the previous period, this unit showed it can cooperate with armies both from the west and the east.
This is a contribution not only to the formation of military relations, but also relations in state politics. The Ministry of Defence chose to cooperate with armies of NATO member states, Russia and other countries, added Sutanovac.
When it comes to new equipment, the special brigade will be prioritised, he added.
The special brigade is a completely professional unit, numbering around 900 soldiers trained for anti-diversion, anti-terrorist, scouting, parachuting and diving skills.
It was formed on September 29 last year as a merge of the 72nd special brigade, 63rd parachuting brigade, parts of the 82nd naval centre and the anti-terrorist squad the Cobras.
