During a tour of the
construction site of the sports hall at the secondary school of theology in Kragujevac, Djilas said that a sum of RSD 50 million was set aside for construction on the St Sava Temple.
He said that the Zica Monastery and other monasteries of national importance are being renovated with funds from the NIP, and the protection of religious buildings in under developed parts of the country will be financed from the NIP.
According to Djilas, during the pervious and current year the state funded 2,000 such projects from the NIP, while presently the competition for projects which will be funded through the NIP during the upcoming year is underway.
Djilas, together with Serbian Minister of Trade and Services Predrag Bubalo, toured the company Zastava Kragujevac and took over keys to 50 Zastava 10 vehicles which were purchased for the market inspection department.
He said that these vehicles were bought with funds from the NIP and announced that in the upcoming period a certain number of Zastava 10 vehicles will be purchased for the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Health Ministry.
Bubalo said on the occasion that the car factory Zastava will succeed in finding the right strategic partner and following renewal of production will once again lead the way in the economic development of the region.
Djilas and Serbian Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac also visited today the technical institute in Cacak, which is an establishment of the Serbian Army and its basic activities are technical maintenance and general repair of army combat equipment.
The institute also produces spare parts for repair purposes and specialised tools.
Djilas said on the occasion that thus far half of the funds from this year’s NIP budget worth nearly €550 million have been realised.
He told a press conference in Cacak that he expects that by the end of the year as much as possible of the remaining NIP funds will be used, and reiterated that leftover funds cannot be transferred to the next year.
Djilas said that in 2008 NIP projects will be financed not just through the budget but also through loans obtained from European investment funds.
He talked today in Cacak with representatives of the Moravicki and Sumadijski districts on how to compete for NIP funds for the next year.
Serbian Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac confirmed that the Serbian Army will compete for NIP funds, in order to realise three projects.
During the visit to the technical institute in Cacak he said that one of the projects of the army is to finish overhaul and modernisation of planes and helicopters.
The army will also compete for funds to adapt the Batajnica Airport for civil aviation, and for finishing works on the base in Cepotin which is an important strategic point near the administrative border with Kosovo-Metohija, said Sutanovac.
He said that the Defence Ministry forwarded today to the Serbian government the bill on law on defence.
