At a working breakfast occasioned by this conference, which will be held in Belgrade from October 10 to 12, Dragin said that a ministerial declaration that will be adopted will establish goals for the next period.
The Minister said that Belgrade and Serbia should be elected as the seat of the Regional centre for tracking climate changes, by which Serbia will become regional leader in that field.
The conference will be attended by 3,000 guests, of whom 2,000 delegates and more than 100 foreign and domestic reporters.
Dragin specified that so far 975 foreign participants have registered for the conference, among them 31 environmental ministers, 15 science ministers and over 200 NGO representatives, as well as over 500 domestic participants.
During the working breakfast with editors-in-chief, editors and journalists reporting on environmental issues, Dragin discussed the political and economic importance of the 6th Ministerial Conference, which is the most important international event to take place in Belgrade after the Non-Aligned Summit.
From October 9 to 12, Belgrade will host representatives of 56 state delegations, several hundreds of international and domestic NGOs and companies specialising in recycling garbage to discuss key environmental issues.
The upcoming conference is another sign that Serbia is seriously moving down the EU integration road and is introducing European standards in the environmental sector.
The work of the conference will be observed by over 100 foreign and domestic reporters. It is expected that Belgrade should receive a considerable financial income because of this event and that it will present some of its tourist attractions during the three days of the conference.
