Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said late yesterday, after the talks with Pietro Parolin, Undersecretary of the Section for Relations with States at the Vatican Secretariat of State, that Vatican thinks that Kosovo status should be solved within the UN Security Council, as a product of compromise acceptable for both sides.
Jeremic said that resolution of the Kosovo status within the UN Security Council was also supported by foreign ministers of Hungary and Malta Kinga Goncz and Michael Frendo respectively.
He reiterated that Serbia cannot accept Kosovo's independence and that solution to the status must be found in a compromise acceptable for both sides.
In addition to talks with the Vatican representative and foreign ministers of Malta and Hungary, Jeremic attended a series of meetings which Serbian President Boris Tadic had yesterday.
