During a tour of the existing construction of the Obrenovac-Surcin bridge, Djilas explained that considering the fact that there are not enough funds for the ring road which is currently one of the main projects which are being realised in Serbia, agreement was reached that a reallocation of funds should be made, and the Serbian government finance committee will consider this today.
He stressed that in his opinion the decision will certainly be adopted and the Serbian government will today hold a telephone session in order to approve the redistribution of funds.
According to Djilas, this year an amount of RSD 720 million from the NIP was envisaged for the ring road and all planned funds were spent for that purpose.
The Minister said that Niskogradnja and Energoprojekt have claims of RSD 135 million.
The works on the ring-road should be finished by September 2008, but constructors think that the ring road could be finished already by May if there is enough funding, said Djilas.
He also said that the completion of a bridge over the Sava River from Obrenovac to Boljevac, whose total value is nearly €15 million, will be mostly financed from the NIP.
The first works on the brigde began ten years ago as part of the remote heating system project, the Minister said and explained that the City of Belgrade will participate with 30% of the funds whereas the rest will be provided from the NIP.
Djilas said that the 12.5 km traffic artery will facilitate life of citizens of Obrenovac, Surcin, Vladimirci, Ub and Koceljeva as it will connect them with the highway and the airport.
After visiting the construction site, the Minister met with city representatives to present a new concept of the NIP.
He recalled that the contest for NIP funds will be closed in late september and announced a new contest in May 2008 for projects financed in 2009.
Djilas said that September 30 is the final date for sumbittal of projects and warrned that projects funded by NIP will be rigoroulsly controlled.
The largest projects in Belgrade funded from NIP will be reconstruction of the Pancevo bridge and completion of the Obrenovac bridge.
