Serbian Minister of Justice Dusan Petrovic said today that judiciary in Serbia is going through a phase of transition, and within the framework of reforms being implemented by the end of 2008 all magisterial organs should change into magisterial courts.
Addressing municipal magistrates who took oaths today in Serbian parliament, Petrovic said that serious reforms await the judiciary, which should result in all magisterial organs becoming magisterial courts.
Our chief goal is to enter the EU, and the judicial system of which you are the most important part will make Serbia a country where people will have a better life, said Petrovic.
Petrovic said that it is inadmissible that there are unduly prolonged cases in the court; that is why it is very important that courts are efficient.
The oath of upholding the Constitution and the law, and carrying out judiciary duties in good conscience and with objectivity, was taken by 26 municipal magistrates and president of the Novi Sad magisterial council.
