In a statement to the news agency Beta from Vukovar, Cubrilo said that it is necessary to further implement decrees of the Croatian Constitutional Law regarding minority groups, as well as of measures for reducing unemployment, which is the problem that the Serbian community in Croatia complains of the most.
She said that she insists together with colleagues in Croatian institutions that the Croatian Constitutional Law is implemented in public companies at the local level and in public institutions.
According to Cubrilo, Serbs in Croatia are also faced with the problem that Croatian institutions are given leeway when they refuse to give employment to Serbs whose parents or relatives played a negative role in the war during the 90s.
We want to believe that these are only exceptions and we will make efforts to reach agreement with Croatian institutions that this does not occur since every individual is responsible for their own actions, Cubrilo stressed.
She added that the Serbian Ministry of Diaspora and the Serbian government will try to offer partnership to Croatian institutions and representatives of the Serbian community in efforts to improve the position of Serbs in Croatia.
Cubrilo said that credit also goes to the international community for the progress made in improving the position of Serbs in Croatia.
During the three-day visit to Croatia, the Serbian Minister of Diaspora also talked with officials from Croatian state institutions on the issue of the position of Serbs and on strengthening interstate cooperation, as well as with returnees in the municipalities of Vojnic and Vukovar.
