The delegation also comprises Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Popovic, Minister of Trade and Services Predrag Bubalo, Minister of Finance Mirko Cvetkovic and State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Jasna Matic.
The Serbian delegation will speak with Envoy of the Russian president for the Central Federal District Georgy Poltavchenko and Minister for Emergency Situations Sergey Shoigu.
The Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic said yesterday prior to the visit to Moscow that
political and economic cooperation with Russia is one of Serbia's foreign policy priorities.
Djelic said that this visit will focus on further improvement of trade and economic exchange, which in 2006 stood at $2.5 billion.
He also welcomed Russian investments in Serbia’s economy which in the period 2000-2006 reached $400 million and added that large Russian companies are very interested in taking part in the privatisation of Serbian companies.
On September 20, the Serbian government delegation will leave Moscow and head for Sochi to take part in the major Russian investment forum.
Djelic said that at the 6th Investment Forum “Sochi–2007”, taking place on September 20-23 in “Russia’s summer capital”, the Serbian delegation will present the possibilities for the participation of Serbian companies in the construction of infrastructure for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
A genuine investment boom of over $10 billion is expected to take place there in the next seven years in the form of investments into the future Olympic city, primarily for the construction of road, sewage and energy infrastructure, with additional investments into sport facilities and hotels.
So far around 3,000 participants have registered for the forum and organisers are expecting the arrival of 10,000 business people and government representatives from Russia, Commonwealth of Independent States, EU and Middle East.
