Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic said today that the session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Committee for Europe, which started today in Belgrade, will address the fulfillment of UN Development Goals for health.

Milosavljevic said at the opening of the conference that the 57th session will be dedicated to fulfillment of UN Millennium Development Goals concerning the health of mother and child, control and eradication of non-contagious diseases as well as respect of the Protocol on Water and Health.
Milosavljevic, who took chairmanship from Turkish Minister of Health Recep Akdag, announced that WHO Director General Margaret Chan will also be present at the session and added that the participating delegates will be addressed by Serbian President Boris Tadic.
WHO Regional Director for Europe Mark Danzon expressed expectation that the conference will successfully address essential issues related to health.
The conference, which ends on September 20, will gather over 300 delegates from 53 states of the WHO European region.
