Ana Ivanovic proclaimed UNICEF ambassador in Serbia

Serbian Minister of Youth and Sports Snezana Samardzic-Markovic received today representatives of UNICEF and Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic, who was inaugurated today as national ambassador of UNICEF in Serbia at a ceremony in Rakovica.

Speaking at a reception held at the Palace of the Government of Serbia in New Belgrade, Samardzic-Marković said that Ivanovic conquered the world with her talent and achievements at the mayor international tennis tournaments and presented Serbia in the best light.
She said that UNICEF got the best ambassador who can help them realise their goals. She reiterated that investing in the young and their safety is the best and most important investment.
Deputy Director of UNICEF Office in Serbia Maria Lucia Fornara said that UNICEF is proud that a world famous tennis player accepted their invitation and by becoming ambassador, joined the fight for the rights of children through various programmes.
After the inauguration, Ivanovic handed over a €8,000 donation to UNICEF representatives for the programme "School without Violence". Owing to this donation, three more schools will be included in that programme. Ivanovic said that this is one of the most beautiful days in her life.
She said that as ambassador of UNICEF, she will work on the realisation of the project "School of Friendship".
