The award worth €3,500 in the category of female entrepreneur was presented to Milina Blagojevic from Smederevo in a ceremony held in the Palace Hotel for a business idea concerning the production of built-in furniture which is to be implemented by the newly founded company Domen.
An award in the same amount in the category of young entrepreneurs was received by Nebojsa Vujovic from Sombor for the business idea of producing designer mirrors which will be implemented through the newly founded company Maestro.
The goal of the competition was to raise the level of entrepreneurship culture in Serbia, as well as to encourage the formation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The competition for the best business plan was organised by the Spanish government. One hundred and twenty seven candidates responded, of which 70 attended free of cost workshops for drafting business plans.
Of these 70 candidates, 27 submitted works for the final competition, and an expert committee selected the best two works in both categories.
Serbian State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Verica Kalanovic stressed that equal regional development of a country cannot be separated from its economic development, in which an especially important role is played by SMEs.
She announced that this year funds will be set aside for the development of SMEs, to strengthen such enterprises in undeveloped municipalities, to encourage converting innovations into finished products, for founding of new SMEs and for giving micro loans to start businesses.
