The agreement was signed in the Republika Srpska government building by General Director of Delta Maxi Dragan Filipovic and General Director and co-owner of the company Tropic Mirko Risovic. The signing was also attended by Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, Minister of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska Predrag Gluhakovic, and co-presidents of the company Delta Holding Miroslav Miskovic and Milka Forcan.
Bubalo stressed on the occasion that the signing of the agreement will contribute to increasing the foreign trade between Republika Srpska and Serbia, and added that the agreement is in complete harmony with the CEFTA, Special Relations between Republika Srpska and Serbia and brotherly relations which Serbia is building with Republika Srpska.
The Minister said that Serbia aims to become a regional leader, and pointed to the fact that investing in regional economy is very important.
Filipovic said that by purchasing Tropic, Delta Maxi has become the first company from Belgrade to own a retail chain in Republika Srpska, and the second in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whereas this is only a first step towards expanding the company in the region.
He said that Delta Maxi will continue to expand in Republika Srpska through Greenfield investments, as well as in the territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina, with the ambition to become a regional leader.
Risovic said that Tropic has sold its business today, but the ownership structure on the company has not changed since the company is still owner of property.
Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik said that signing of the agreement has confirmed that the governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska have established close economic relations during the past year.
Dodik said that cooperation in the energy sector will be established between the two countries during the upcoming period, and added that this will prove it is possible to cooperate in the region according to international standards.
Co-president of Delta Holding Milka Forcan confirmed that this company will expand in Republika Srpska in the area of investment funds, as well as in other spheres in which it already does business outside Republika Srpska.
The first Tropic retail shop was opened in Banja Luka in 1991, and in 2005 the company was declared most successful trader in Republika Srpska.
Tropic has 700 employees, and besides Banja Luka, they have outlets in Novi Grad, Prijedor, Jajce, Doboj, Bijelijina and Prnjavor.
