The US State Department stated today that US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice decided to unfreeze around $6 million worth of aid to Serbia thanks to the Serbian government’s steps towards cooperation with the Hague Tribunal.
The statement adds that Rice decided to certify that Serbia has fulfilled the criteria of the Law on funds allocated as assistance to foreign countries for 2006 and recalls that these $6 million are in fact the remaining funds of the total $70 million of aid to Serbia for the fiscal year of 2006/2007, which were suspended due to a lack of certification on May 31 last year.
