Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Popovic presented today in Becici Serbia’s priorities during its six month presidency over the Energy Community’s Ministerial Council which it will begin on July 1.
The Ministry says in a statement that Popovic addressed the participants of the Ministerial Council, which comprises energy ministers of countries signatories of the Agreement on Establishing Energy Community, and said that in the upcoming period Serbia will insist on effective implementation of the agreement.
He added that another aim during its presidency will be to advocate the signing of the memorandum of understanding on social aspects of the Energy Community.
Serbia is the first member country that finished preparations for signing this document and its efforts will be directed toward ensuring energy supply safety and access to energy for all citizens.
Popovic presented the proposal for forming a regional energy fund that would finance infrastructural projects.
Also attending the conference in Becici are EU Commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs, representatives of the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe and ministers of monitoring countries and participating countries in the process of Energy Community.
