Following talks with Jeremic, Bildt said that he is pleased with his visit to Serbia, not just because the new government has been formed, but also because Serbia is nearing its aim, which is resumption of negotiations with the EU, adding that this is a very important signal for Serbia.
Bildt and Sweden have been key supporters of Serbia on its path towards the EU over the years and it is a fact that Serbia is continuing this process after a year long blockade, owing to efforts made by Swedish diplomats and by Carl Bildt personally, said Jeremic.
During talks with Bildt, Jeremic stressed that the Serbian government is very concerned about the contents of the draft resolution on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija, since it is absolutely unacceptable for Serbia.
We consider that new negotiations are needed in order to reach a compromise solution, which could be satisfactory for both sides. Current contents of the resolution do not reflect that, said Jeremic.
