Jeremic said that he fully agrees with the position of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, but that it is not unusual that opposing parties have opposite opinions.
According to him, the most important is what happens at the UN Security Council, where there is no agreement or appropriate support to the plan of Martti Ahtisaari on the province's status and where a heated debate is expected.
Serbia will not give up its territorial integrity and sovereignty, the Minister underlined and added that it is not necessary to think about the positions of Tirana and Pristina on Kosovo issue, since the developments in the Security Council is what counts.
On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and the United States, Jeremic said that the Serbian government will do everything to continue those relations, despite different positions of the two government's on the Kosovo issue.
The Minister said that in a short period of time he has established contacts with 15 foreign ministers of the European Union and that the Ministry's priority is resuming negotiations on EU accession.
He also said that another priority for the new Serbian government is cooperation with the Hague tribunal and that that will be the main message to Carla del Ponte who comes to Belgrade next week.
