18th spa fair opened

Vrnjacka Banja, 28 May 2007

State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Goran Petkovic opened yesterday in Vrnjacka Banja the traditional 18th tourist spa fair and the follow-up health SPA festival.

On that occasion, Petkovic said that tourism is the industry of the future and recalled that implementation of the Strategy of tourism development in Serbia started last year, which gives a very important place to spa tourism.

Petkovic said that the Ministry will try to make products of greater value in the field of spa tourism and that seminars for the education of spa workers are currently underway for making a better and more entertaining welcome for the guests.

Annual awards "Banjski List" by the Serbian Spas and Resorts Associations, were given at the spa fair in Vrnjacka Banja.

Prolom Banja rehabilitation centre got the award for best marketing appearance, Borjak from Vrnjacka Banja was proclaimed to be the best arranged spa park and Merkur special hospital from Vrnjacka Banja got the award for best rehabilitation centre.

Director of Merkur special hospital Dejan Stankovic and Secretary of the Serbian Spas and Resorts Association Ljubica Ivanovic got the award for contribution to spa tourism.
