In a ceremony in Sevojno, Popovic said that building a gas network will provide gasification of over 13,000 households and companies in Uzice in the next five years, noting that nearly RSD 235 million need to be set aside for the project.
The intention of the government is to introduce gas pipelines throughout the whole of Serbia in the next four years, Popovic said and explained that gas is both more cost effective and more environmental friendly compared to other sources of energy.
According to Popovic, the government plans to construct a Nis-Sophia pipeline in the near future.
He added that due to a change of energy source, air pollution, especially in winter months, will decrease.
This project also paves the way for other investment, primarily in the field of local distributive gas networks and production and industrial capacities that will be more competitive thanks to the use of more economic fuels.
Popovic also attended the beginning of works on the Pozega gas pipeline and main measuring station whose value is RSD 28.8 million. The contractor of the works is Jedinstvo from Sevojno.
