In the first trimester of 2007, against the same period in 2006, there was a growth of 4.8% in industrial production.
By sectors, in March 2007, against the same month in 2006, the following changes were noticed:
Production in the processing industry went up by 6.1%, the mining and quarrying sector fell by 1.2%, the production and distribution of electricity, gas and water fell by 9.5%.
There was a growth of 66.9% in March 2007, against March 2006, in the production of durable consumer goods. In intermediate goods, except energy, this growth was 8.5% and non-durable consumer goods production went up by 6.8%, while the energy sector fell by 12.0% and capital productions by 0.5%.
Over all industrial production in March 2007 against March 2006 saw a growth in 17 areas (with a 63% share in production) and 12 sectors fell (with a 37% share in over all production).
Industrial production in March 2007, against March 2006, was influenced mostly by production of food products, furniture, chemicals and chemical products and the production of non-metals.
Industrial production in the first trimester of 2007, against the same period in the previous year, was mostly influenced by the production of food products, furniture, basic metals and products from non-metal minerals.
The deseasonalised index for March 2007, against the average of 2006, shows a growth of 1.5% in over all industrial production and a rise of 5.4% in the processing industry.
The deseasonalised index for March 2007, against February 2007, shows that industrial production fell by 1.1%, and the processing industry rose by 1.0%.
Production in small enterprises (where the number of employees is less than 50) and which are not included in the regular statistical surveys is monitored through a sample of 340 selected units from the processing industry sector.
Data required were submitted by 105 enterprises. Including these figures in the industrial production for March 2007, against the average in 2006, shows a rise of 4.4% in production (excluding these figures the growth stands at 4.3%), and in the processing industry it rose by 5.8% (excluding these figures the growth stands at 5.7%).
Data on industrial production in 2007 is published by the 28th of the month, and regards the previous month.
