Loncar said that instead of Ahtisaari’s plan, which failed because it violates the UN Charter and is an attempt at seizure of Serbian territory, the proper basis for new negotiations should be the Russian initiative that a Security Council mission make an assessment of the implementation of standards which were laid out by the UN SC Resolution 1244.
The return of more than 200,000 persecuted Serbs from Kosovo-Metohija should, according to Loncar, serve as a basis for achieving a compromise solution for the future status of Kosovo-Metohija.
There is no doubt that a massive return of Serbs to Kosovo-Metohija will secure a greater degree of trust in Kosovo-Metohija, and it presents the best basis for achieving a solution based on compromise for the future status of Kosovo-Metohija which is substantial autonomy, said Loncar.
