Head of the Serbian Mission at the UN Pavle Jevremovic sent to the UN Security Council the demand of the Serbian government and Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic that while visiting Kosovo, the UN Security Council mission should also visit Serb enclaves in the province.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says in a statement that the UN Security Council mission has been invited to stay in the province for as long as it takes in order to get a realistic notion of whether the provisions of the effectual Security Council Resolution 1244, dealing with democratic standards for Serbs and other non-ethnic Albanians, have been implemented.
Jevremovic will also tell the Council that the government’s demand has been endorsed by Sergei Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of Russia, a permanent Security Council member country at whose request the mission is to visit Belgrade and Pristina.
