The Serbian Electoral Commission (RIK) stated today that Democratic Party’s presidential candidate Boris Tadic has won the second round of Serbia’s presidential election with 53.53 percent of the vote (or 1,664,438 votes). Serbian Radical Party candidate Tomislav Nikolic got the 45.1 percent support (or 1,402,360 votes). The data show 98.5 percent of the reported results, RIK Secretary Marko Danilovic told a press conference today.
According to him, Central Serbia supported Tadic with 52.71 percent, while Nikolic won 45.84 percent in that area. The ratio of the votes was 56:43 in Vojvodina, and 59:40 in Belgrade, in Tadic’s favour.
Tadic won the majority of the vote in the diaspora (86.26 percent) whereas Nikolic got the 13.19 percent support there.
The results from Kosovo-Metohija will be published today.
The reported turnout in the Sunday run-off was 48.28 percent of the registered voters.
