The Ministry of Economy says in a statement that Pavlovic said he expects Serbia to get a positive assessment of the progress it has achieved, as was the case in previous years.
He recalled the remark stated in the European Commission’s report on Serbia’s progress for 2006 which says that Serbia implemented the European Charter for Small Enterprises very efficiently and professionally.
The European Charter for Small Enterprises is one of the European Commission’s most important initiatives by which emphasis is put on the significance of small enterprises regarding growth, competitiveness and employment, and 10 principles are set to support the development of the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship.
The meeting in Dubrovnik, taking place today and tomorrow, will aim to present and jointly consider and harmonise the results of the European Commission and the OSCE which are included in the report for 2006 and in which the progress achieved in the previous year is being assessed for each individual country and the region as a whole.
The Serbian Ministry of Economy said that Serbia has made significant progress in the implementation of the European Charter for Small Enterprises and the construction of a support system for small enterprises. It adds that Serbia is also half way on the road to achieve the level which has to be reached before it enters the EU.
Serbia is fully devoted to the implementation of the European Charter for Small Enterprises and aware of how much work must yet be invested in order to achieve the appropriate business environment in line with the principles of the Charter, adds the statement.
