The statement continues that the fair opened on February 19 and will last until February 22, adding that for the first time Serbia's dairy products, such as milk, cheese and yoghurt were presented, as well as other items such as prunes, cherries, apples, marzipan, chocolate and mineral water.
Apart from these, Serbian companies will also present chicken meat with Halal certificate, which is necessary for export into Islamic countries. Companies taking parting in the exhibition are Valeta, Planima Farms, Areks, Pionir, Art Ival, Zlatibor Voda and Agranela.
Around 35,000 visitors from 150 countries visit the fair every year. Gulfood is one of the most important events of the kind and this year 2,173 exhibitors from 70 countries will take part in it.
At the same time, Gulfood is an overall exhibition of producers, distributors and suppliers from all over the world which represent key sectors of the food and hotel industries.
Serbian companies are taking part in the fair under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, organised by the Serbian Import and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) with technical support from the Serbia Entrepreneurship Development Project (USAID-SEDP).
Also taking place from February 20-22 will be the 2nd international conference on food safety in which speakers from state, legal and scientific institutions of Australia, France, Germany, Great Britain and the USA will participate, concludes the statement.
