The donation includes counterfeit detection equipment, digital photo and video equipment, computers, and office furniture.
Jocic said following the signing ceremony that Serbia-Montenegro is a crossroads for drug trafficking and added that Germany’s donation represents an assistance to all the countries in the region, recalling that combating transnational crime calls for international cooperation.
He also said that the equipment will improve the efficiency of the narcotics unit and help resolve cases related to organised crime.
Jocic recalled that the German government has already invested some €3 million to help bring Serbian policing up to the European standards.
Leonberger recalled that organised crime knows no borders, that its network is often better organised that state institutions, and he pointed out that successful combating against organised crime calls for cross-border measures and joint efforts.
