In the first round, Nikolic picked up 954, 339 of the votes cast (30.6 percent), and Tadic 853, 584 (27.37 percent).
Bogoljub Karic, who run as an independent candidate, came in third with 586, 691 votes (18.23 percent), ahead of ruling coalition candidate Dragan Marsicanin who garnered 414, 971 votes (13.30 percent). Serbian Socialist Party candidate Ivica Dacic won 125, 952 votes (4.04 percent) and independent candidate Princess Jelisaveta Karadjordjevic 62, 737 (2.01 percent). The remaining candidates won less than one percent of the vote.
The election saw a 47.76 percent voter turnout, which is 3, 119, 789 of 6, 532, 263 eligible voters.
The run-off will be held on June 27 at same polling stations.
