At the same time, the summit participants stressed that Belgrade must step up the efforts towards fulfilling the necessary conditions for the EU integration process to resume, and this primarily includes cooperation with the Hague Tribunal.
EU leaders recalled the Declaration on the Western Balkans adopted in January this year and stated that "the European Council reiterates its engagement and support to Serbia on its path to Europe."
Having in mind Serbia's considerable institutional capacity, the European Council is convinced that Serbia will be able to accelerate its EU accession process as soon as the Stabilisation and Association Agreement is resumed, reads the document adopted by heads of EU states and governments at the summit's conclusion.
