The Serbian Prime Minister's Foreign Policy Advisor Vladeta Jankovic stated today that certain countries are still determinedly against the continuation of talks between Serbia and the EU, however the number of those who think the EU should be more tolerant towards the democratic forces in Serbia prior to elections is on the increase.
In a statement to the press at the parliament today on occasion of the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Jankovic said there are indications that Brussels will send a positive signal to Serbia, though this does not necessarily mean the talks will resume.
He said that at the Brussels meeting he expects heads of diplomacy to discuss ways to improve the relationship between the EU and Serbia.
Jankovic also stressed the importance of concluding the cooperation with The Hague Tribunal adding that the government will definitely not give up its efforts on this matter.
He recalled that during the current government's mandate, the cooperation with The Hague has been intensified and 16 indictees went to The Hague without arrests, adding that Ratko Mladic has been publicly warned that his appearance before the face of justice will be in the best interest of the state and people.
According to Jankovic, Serbia should not give up on diplomatic efforts to preserve Kosovo-Metohija as part of Serbia, adding that the number of countries in the international community who are against Kosovo independence is rising.
