The statement reads that this is the first inter-parliamentary meeting of representatives from the European and Serbian parliaments. The participants in the meeting will discuss the political situation in Serbia, its prospects in the process of stabilisation and association, and the results of the referendum on the new Constitution of Serbia.
Other issues to be discussed are implementation of the rule of law in Serbia, economic situation in the country, and some questions from the field of legislation and interior, including the cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
Members of the two delegations will also talk about Kosovo-Metohija and perspectives for the termination of negotiations on the province's future status.
The Serbian parliament delegation consists of chairmen of parliamentary committees for European integration and foreign affairs Suzana Grubjesic and Gordana Comic, and deputies Vuko Antonijevic, Vojkan Tomic and Zeljko Ivanji.
The Serbian government will be presented by Director of the EU Integration Office Tanja Miscevic.
The European parliament delegation for relations with the countries of southeastern Europe will be led by Doris Pack.
Upon the conclusion of the first inter-parliamentary meeting, a joint statement from the heads of delegations will be adopted.
