Prime Minister in a caretaker capacity Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Belgrade Moncef Mansri to discuss the enhancement of bilateral relations.
Macut welcomed the new Ambassador and emphasised that the friendship between Serbia and Algeria has deep historical roots and provides a good foundation for further strengthening political dialogue and cooperation.
The Prime Minister pointed to the importance of his recent visit to Algeria for further strengthening relations between the two countries, and highlighted the participation of Speaker of the Algerian Parliament Khalida Boufedech in the commemorative meeting marking the 65th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade as another indicator of their close ties.
The Prime Minister invited Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb to visit Serbia.
The interlocutors assessed that there is significant room for further development of economic cooperation, particularly through strengthening business ties and increasing the number of Serbian companies in the Algerian market.
The meeting also addressed the business forum to be held in Belgrade in November, as well as the establishment of an intergovernmental committee for economic and scientific-technical cooperation, which will contribute to improving economic relations and increasing trade exchange.
Ambassador Mansri expressed gratitude for the reception and emphasised that during his mandate he will work dedicatedly on further enhancing relations between Serbia and Algeria, conveying the message that Prime Minister Macut is always welcome in Algeria.
