Parliament to declare Constitution at solemn session

At a solemn session scheduled for 12 noon by Parliament Speaker Predrag Markovic the new Serbian Constitution will be officially declared and will become effective as of today.
The solemn parliament session will be held at the Serbian parliament building at Nikola Pasic Square. This will be the parliament's second extraordinary session, the first one was held on September 30 when the draft constitution was adopted. Afterwards, on October 28 and 29, the supreme legal act was also confirmed at the referendum.
Markovic invited Serbian President Boris Tadic, Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and other government members, Patriarch Pavle and representatives of churches and religious communities in Serbia, the diplomatic corps and the president of the constitutional and supreme courts of Serbia to attend the solemn declaration of the new Constitution.
Members of the Russian Duma currently visiting Serbia also stated their wish to attend the ceremony.
